Additional RBPS Configured Navigators for Royal British Marines
February 2012

PRESS RELEASE: Ontario, Canada, February 10, 2012. Following close behind their initial purchase of May 2011, the British Royal Marines have ordered a second contingent of NAVIGATORs, the one man navigation and sonar reconnaissance units manufactured by Shark Marine Technologies Inc. The deployment of the systems for the Marines in their Rapid Beach Profiling configuration was a recognized success. The NAVIGATOR excelled in their expectations of improving the data collection capabilities of the Marine’s reconnaissance teams, as well as increasing the overall accuracy of the data collected.

Shark Marine has worked closely with militaries in the amphibious world with the development of the NAVIGATOR to assist their operations in numerous ways. These applications include Explosive Ordinance Reconnaissance (EOR) to confirm the seaway to the beach is clear of obstacles and mines as well as Beach Reconnaissance, to ensure the beach gradient is suitable for amphibious force landing craft and the approach is clear of obstacles such as sand bars. The British Royal Marine’s NAVIGATORs have been configured for use by either swimmer or inflatable raiding craft, specifically for beach reconnaissance. Data is collected and processed real-time for immediate determination as to the suitability of the beach. Feedback received from the field has praised the NAVIGATORs for their contribution to enhancing the reconnaissance task.

NAVIGATORs are currently in use by Marines, Navy MCM teams and SAR units in countries around the globe including the Netherlands, New Zealand, Canada, France and the UK.
