LBL
- Long Base Line By
far the most accurate means for ROV and other system positioning.
LBL requires the deployment of 3 or more Transponders on the
sea-bed. This deployment usually only takes about 30 min. Position
accuracy is generally better than 1 metre. |

SBL
- Short Base Line
SBL
Provides accuracy in the range of 10 metre in varying conditions. The
transducers are mounted on the surface vessel and the underwater vessel,
therefore the position is relative to the surface vessel. The addition of
a DGPS and Compass will allow for geodetic positioning. SBL is less
expensive than LBL and is favoured when positioning is not as critical or
when live boating.

Pinger
Based Positioning
PINGER
BASED POSITIONING - is the least expensive option.
It requires at
least 2 pingers to be deployed on the sea-floor
and manual input
of headings to calculate position. When the Operator requires a
position he would turn the ROV until the locater detects the pingers, once
these headings are entered into the software the geodetic location is
displayed.

881A
Scanning Sonar
Scanning
Sonar is excellent for positioning ROVs around structures, or tripod
mounted to track movement of other targets. Now with
Multi-frequency Sonar, operators can generate highly detailed full-scale
images with just one unit. The 881A is a programmable
multi-frequency digital imaging sonar that you can operate using default
frequency settings or customize the configurations for your own
situation. High performance, lower cost, low power and simple
set-up and installation, make this sonar perfect for the largest ROV's
to the smallest inspection ROV's, plus AUV or UUV applications. |

Fugawi
Navigation Software FUGAWI is a complete navigational system that makes powerful use of the extraordinary GLOBAL POSITIONING SYSTEM. With FUGAWI, you easily create accurate digital maps from any scanned map or existing map database (ie. BSB MARINE CHARTS or USGS TOPOGRAPHIC MAPS). Then, in real-time navigation mode, your exact position is displayed on the map as you move and new maps are automatically loaded as you travel to new areas. |

Layback and Offset
Calculator This
easy to use software simplifies the calculation of targets. This
small always on top window allows you to calculate the exact geodetic
location from side-scan and other surveys by simply entering in the boat
position, heading, layback and offset. Not only does it perform the
calculations in a flash, it allows you to save your targets, with comments
to a file importable by other software including GIS and navigation.
Anyone doing survey operations cannot afford to be without this inexpensive
time saver. |
