The tripod houses the 881A scanning sonar as well as the Heading Pitch and Roll (HPR) sensor. Both the power and data transmission for these two devices use a single umbilical to the topside console. The Tripod with 881A Scanning Sonar and HPR module are fully supported hardware accessories in DiveLog. An important asset for surveying, site monitoring and situational awareness.

881A Scanning Sonar Azimuth Drive

The Model 881A Azimuth Drive is a rugged and powerful rotary actuator drive that can be coupled to an Model 881A Profiling Sonar. The two axes of rotation in this combined unit provide the capability to obtain accurate, high resolution range information in any direction. In standard applications, profiles may be made in any direction by simply commanding the Azimuth Drive to rotate the attached profiling sonar anywhere in a circle. The profiling sonar can then perform a cross-sectional scan before being rotated to a new azimuth angle. The Azimuth Drive uses the same RS-485 serial communications line and command structure as the profiling head. A single, simple to use PC compatible computer program operates both, and full communications protocol specifications are provided for designing customized software.

Depressor Wing

This small wing allows the SportScan or Yellowfin Sidescan sonar units to tow deeper, using less cable. Great for deeper searches.

Sidescan Stablilizer Tail

The Sidescan Stabilizer Tail was created as an attachment for the Sportscan and YellowFin sidescan sonar models. It is designed to stabilize the sidescan in certain situations where the tow-fish tends to waiver from side to side. By eliminating the waiver in the tail, the resulting distortion is also eliminated from the sidescan data providing a more stable image for analysis.

Cable Tow Clamp

This simple but effective clamp provides a means to quickly adjust cable towing length and then hold the cable securely. The specially designed jaw holds the cable tight but is gentle to the jacket. A must for any towing application. Accepts cables up to 1/2 inch (12mm), larger models possible.

Sediment Sampler

The sediment sampler add-on for the Stealth2 ROV is a pneumatically powered soil sampler, with a rotating carousel. The carousel holds up to three sample jars. There are two varieties of sample jars: The single, which contains a 2 inch (inner diameter) tube and the triple, which contains three 3/4 inch (inner diameter) sample tubes. The sediment sampler was designed for soft soil, and will take a sample up to 6.5 inches deep depending on sampling conditions and hardness of soil. The sediment sampler has been designed for easy installation and removal from the Stealth ROV.

Manipulator Arms

Manipulator arms are an important option, whether retrieving items or untangling your own umbilical. Manipulators are normally described by functions. A single function arm would have an opening and closing jaw only, a two function would have jaw and wrist, and three function jaw, wrist and elbow. We have manipulators that incorporate rope cutters into the jaw design as well as separate rope cutters. We have also designed special jaws and arms for unique applications.

SeaWolf 5 Function Hydraulic Manipulator

The SeaWolf 5 Function Hydraulic Manipulator is a lightweight arm, designed for light work-class operations. The stainless steel jaws incorporate a 180º jaw rotation with a 1/4" diameter rope cutter. This arm includes its own 5 way hydraulic valve pack and a DC power supply for complete self contained operation. The construction of plastic and stainless steel has kept the arm rugged and tough with the capability of lifting 10Kg at full reach, yet retaining a very light weight in water. The unique 5 function arrangement gives excellent dexterity for a small arm and enhances the operational capability of the SeaWolf ROV.

Scaling Lasers

Scaling lasers are used to provide two reference points a measured distance apart. These reference points may then be used to estimate the size of objects viewed through the camera. For even greater accuracy a four point box created by a 4 laser unit may be preferred.

Long Base Line (LBL) System

By far the most accurate means for ROV and other system positioning. LBL requires the deployment of 3 or more Transponders on the sea-bed. This deployment usually only takes about 30 min. Position accuracy is generally better than 1 metre.

SBL - Short Base Line

SBL Provides accuracy in the range of 10 metre in varying conditions. The transducers are mounted on the surface vessel and the underwater vessel, therefore the position is relative to the surface vessel. The addition of a DGPS and Compass will allow for geodetic positioning. SBL is less expensive than LBL and is favoured when positioning is not as critical or when live boating.
